Women Cooperative


HARC-Alaknanda Krishi Vyawasaya Bahuddeshiya Swayatt Sehkarita (H-AKVBSS) is presently working with 210 (direct) and 1098 (indirect) marginal producers of 5 blocks i.e. Ghat, Pokhri Karnprayag, Gairsain and Ukhimath of remotely located districts Chamoli and Rudraprayag respectively in Uttarakhand.

Himalayan Action Research Centre (HARC) (Promoter organisation):

HARC is an autonoums organization registered in 1989 under Socitey Registration Act, 1860. HARC has been working in improving the livelihood of rural women in Uttarakhand since its formation and has impacted 28,000 families till date. Over the years, it has formed 360 self-help groups, 2 cooperatives, 150 farmers’ income groups and 15 federations covering 6,000 farming families across 320 villages. All these years, HARC adopted the approach of organizing people into community based organizations, strengthening these organizations, providing technical knowledge, and linking them to market. In coming years, HARC envisages assisting women cooperative in enhancing livelihood of 1500 women farmers of the nearby areas.
